I can’t wait to tell you all about Mary and Matt’s wedding day; but first, let me give you a little background on Mary and Matt who are both the absolute sweetest. Mary and Matt both played on a recreation volleyball league on RIVAL TEAMS! Mary subtly wanted to let me know that her team did beat Matt’s team in the league for first place multiple times! Throughout the season, Matt showed interest in Mary while all along Mary played it cool until one game in particular. The rivalry came to an end when Matt turned his ankle in the middle of a game and Mary went over to check on him. Later that night Matt messaged Mary on Facebook. They went on their first date to a Sushi restaurant. Their waiter had to come back 3 or 4 times before they were ready to order because they were so caught up in conversation. It’s safe to say, they hit it off!
Fast forward to the winter months, on the coldest winter day, Mary and Matt went to the Garden Fest of Lights at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens where Matt asked Mary to marry him. Mary say’s braving the freezing cold was WELL worth it!
When Mary came out to tour the venue for the first time I instantly just adored her and was so excited when they decided to say “I Do” at Waverly Estate. Mary, Matt, and both of their families were an absolute joy to work with. I had so much fun hearing about all of their plans for the big day and then seeing all of the details come together on the wedding day!
Details….let me tell you….they had so many amazing DIY details that made the whole wedding day just that much more special! Leading up to the week of the wedding, there were some definite nerves with the threat of hurricane Irma! The weather, as we all know, was all over the place that week but it ended up being beautiful weather all day! Part of their DIY touches were the flowers which were ordered online and coming from FLORIDA (yes, where hurricane Irma hit)! The flowers (not put together) arrived on Friday! Although they had to track the flowers down to a local fed ex, they were able to get everything done so beautifully. On the wedding day, friends of the families and Waverly Estate staff were in the tent trimming buckets of eucalyptus and blush roses to decorate all of the tables and boy was it worth it! Their varying centerpieces was the perfect touch to the overall theme.
Their wedding was a combination of vintage and traditional. From the smoky blue dresses to the place settings and centerpieces, they incorporated hints of blue and blush everywhere! Their ceremony had such a romantic feel with the white drape up the tree, the live musician, Mary’s stunning lace dress, and the flowy bouquets!
While the wedding party took pictures with the sun peeking through the trees and in the newly renovated historic chapel. the wedding guests made their way over to cocktail hour under the bistro lights.
It was so incredible to see the pure happiness on Mary and Matt’s face throughout the entire night. Savannah with Savannah Faith Photography did an absolutely amazing job capturing their true emotions on the day of. I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as we did!
