Their love story began, like every good one does, at a bar in college! Flash forward a few years Lydia and Willie got engaged at the pineapple fountain in the charming city of Savannah, Georgia. Lydia said, “It was drizzling out, so no one was around which was awesome. We were just taking a picture together and then I felt Willie shaking so I had a feeling it was happening!! He still says it was because it was “cold” out… (It was June).”
Willie and Lydia tied the knot on October 17, 2020. They had the most elegant ceremony in front of our 200 year old hackberry tree followed by their reception in the event building which was one heck of a party. Between their amazing florals and beautiful decor, their wedding was one for the books! When we asked why they chose Waverly Estate for their big day, Lydia said, “We chose Waverly Estate because of the beautiful grounds. We loved that you had the option of getting married under the tree or in the chapel if it was raining. In addition, we were so excited that our entire bridal party could stay with us the whole weekend. Sarah and Collin were a huge part of the reason we chose the venue as well. Sarah was amazing at communicating throughout the entire planning process and she was such a positive and fun presence on our wedding day. She has the coordination of the wedding day completely perfected.”
Lydia says the most memorable part of their day was the dancing, and their amazing DJ. She loved how he was able to get everyone on the dance floor, and how he even broke it down on the dance floor for a few songs! They chose our all inclusive package and our DJ played a huge roll in making their reception one they would never forget.
We asked, “What is one piece of advice you would give to a couple touring venues/planning a wedding?” and Lydia said, “The obvious.. just go with Waverly Estate! But seriously, I would tell couples to make sure you understand the full package of what you’re getting. I loved that Waverly came with an all inclusive package that made the planning process so much easier and less stressful. It took a ton of work off our plates and was planned out perfectly.” …I promise, we didn’t pay her to say that 😉
We were so happy we got to be a part of Willie and Lydia’s big day, and watch the details of their wedding fall so magically into place. We know that their relationship will be full of love & light, and can’t wait to see what is in store for their future!
