Summer and Devlyn’s Historic Church Wedding

Summer and Devlyn’s wedding….oh where to start. Lets start with their  rehearsal dinner! Although I don’t have pictures to share of it, they did an amazing rehearsal dinner under the bistro lights and had it catered by RVA Wood Fired Pizza Food truck. It was delicious and such a neat idea! Unlimited pizza buffet, salad, and drinks….um yes please!

On the wedding day, the guys and girls spent the morning relaxing and getting ready in the bridal suite and man cave. It is always so great to see the wedding party relaxing and enjoying the day rather than stressing over anything!

I was so excited to see the decorations for this wedding come together! Summer and Devlyn chose to get married in our historic church and I knew that Summer had ordered beautiful florals from Serena Rose Flowers by Jamie and let me tell you….stunning! The flower garland that lined the pulpit was a stunning design for the ceremony. Beautiful white candles and greenery were in every window (and still are to this day….I couldn’t pass them up!). Summer asked her grandfather to be the officiant for the wedding which added such a special and sweet touch!

After the ceremony, guests headed over to tent to grab some dinner and kick off the reception!

The reception….the dancing….the bouquet and garter toss….oh my, just so much good stuff.

To start, Summer had planned not to do a father/daughter dance due to the fact that her father is paralyzed and in a wheelchair and has been her entire life. She had decided she was going to stand with her dad while Devlyn and his mother danced. Last minute, they decided they would share the dance floor with Devlyn and his mom. Let me tell you…there was not a dry eye. I was on the outskirts of the reception and had to tell myself…”get it together Sarah!”

Later on in the night, when it was time for the bouquet and garter toss, I went up to Summer to give her a heads up that we were about ready for the toss. She asked me to wait just a little bit because her bridesmaid had went up to the store to get a Smirnoff Ice so she could Ice Devlyn when he was getting her garter. Ok, have you head of getting Iced, before? If not, head to our Facebook video to see this in action! (Yes, I had my camera ready to roll since I was let in on the little secret before it happened) LINK HERE! When Summer was ready with the Ice, I grabbed her a chair and got her seated. Devlyn had no idea what he was about to get himself into. He took it like a champ though! haha

Although their wedding fell on what was the hottest day in July, it ended up being just beautiful! We enjoyed watching all of the wedding party and guests dance until it was quitting time for the DJ.

Devlyn and Summer, we wish you nothing but happiness and love in your marriage! We loved working with you two and are so glad that you chose Waverly Estate as your venue!
